I titled this piece "Paint it Black" when the catchy song of The Rolling Stones was stuck in my head for several days. The act of transferring the melody onto the canvas through my paintbrush offered a sense of relief from the repetition of "I see a red door and I want it painted black..." However, a dreadful turn of events occurred when I suddenly found myself bombarded with the lyrics, "Hey now, you're an all-star, get your game on, go play, hey now, you're a rock star, get the show on, get paid." These four bars looped incessantly, causing me to question the karmic justice behind such torment. Replacing The Rolling Stones with Smash Mouth is like the musical equivalent of trading a hangnail for pancreatitis.
